For air temperature (T) measured in °F and relative humidity (RH) measured in %, the formula is:

Two adjustments are applied per NOAA guidelines: if relative humidity is below 13% and temperature is between 80°F and 112°F, a small subtraction is made. If humidity is above 85% and temperature is between 80°F and 87°F, a small addition is made. If the calculated heat index is lower than the actual air temperature, the actual temperature is used as the final value.

For Celsius inputs, the temperature is converted to Fahrenheit first, then converted back to Celsius for display if that unit is selected.
